Since I was so damn frustrated I took some very excellent advice from :icontriaxx2: :

"Perhaps the problem is that you're trying to hard to progress because you're going in the wrong direction? Perhaps you're pushing too hard towards pseudo-real, when you need a unique style of cartoon? Once you realize how you perceive things as cartoons, you'll understand how you perceive things as real and be able to translate them in your head all the better.

Gotta say so far that I am pleased with the result thus far and will continue to head in this direct with my coloring goals (but with my own style next, I was just practicing coloring here) :) Thanks.

Also, I picked some Yori art since she's pretty awesome. My premise here is that after Sensei passes Yori will undoubtedly take over Yamanuchi as headmaster. Here she is as an adult in some ninja stuffs :)

BTW, did you ink Yori with the pen tool? or brush? I'm guessing pen tool to be honest.

Most of the lines were done with the brush function in Illustrator. The fills with the pen tool/shapes in illustrator. Then i brought it over to Photoshop, rasterized the fill shapes and painted on them :)

I love the lotus on the gi, and the scabbard (assuming it is the lotus blade after all) Also, I like the red barettes in the hair, keeping it true to her original design and colors, with your own take.

I think I like this new direction you're thinking of. Toons is toons, and best kept as such. That said, there's a pretty wide area of style to cover, just in the "toon" fashion.

You do great KP art, don't you know that? I love Yori, and you drew her quite nice here. The outfit suits her, since she wears tight ninja outfits, etc. Nice touch with the hairpin, for it makes her look more elegant. :)
